Még ha digitálisan is, de megrendezésre került a Tokyo Game Show mellett az idei Japan Game Awards díjátadója is, melynek nyerteseit részben a közönség szavazhatta meg. A két legrangosabb Grand Award díjat végül a Monster Hunter Rise és a Ghost of Tsushima megosztva vihette haza, de emellett az Award for Excellence díjat is elnyerték olyan címek mellett, mint például a The Last of Us Part 2, a Final Fantasy 7 Remake és a Sakuna: Of Rice and Ruin., de külön elismerésben részesült még többek között az Animal Crossing: New Horizons és a Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is.
